The proposals replace an existing mews house with a contemporary re-interpretation of the mews proportions and materiality to sit within the rhythm of the street. The townhouse is stripped to a shell, extensively refurbished and linked to the mews around a new central courtyard. The mews proportions are extruded through the depth of the new-build to provide a glazed structural grid of deep fins offering generous light levels into the depth of the building combined with privacy from overlooking from along the terrace. The fins are open to the sky around the central courtyard to frame the external space and link the two buildings to form a unique, multi aspect house.
